RSIC Mechanical Portfolio Update
April 2006
An excellent performance this month, up 7.5% compared to the market’s 4% rise. The mechanical portfolio now stands at a bit over £31,600, 83% up on total money invested and with an annual rate of return equivalent to 31%pa.
Significant movers this month were Wyndeham Press (+28%), Charter (+18%), McAlpine (+17%), Metnor (+15%), Hunting (+10%) and Stanley Leisure (-9%).
Charter, Dart, Hunting, Interior Services, McAlpine & Wyndeham Press all set new highs during the month.
An agreed bid has been made for Wyndeham Press at 155p per share (current bid price is 154p). This will almost certainly go through in the next few weeks.
Carclo was sold last month. BETonSPORTS and Stanley Leisure were bought. All of these were in the growth side of the portfolio.
We still have a vacancy in the value side.
Hunting continues to set new highs but its trailing stop loss is getting tighter with each new high (it is currently a little less than 7%) sp it’s bound to get shaken out at some point.
No sales are due this month and with no valid value candidate yet again, there will be no transactions.
