RSIC Mechanical Portfolio Update
April 2005
The portfolio suffered its first monthly fall for 6 months, dropping by nearly £700 (3.7%). By comparison, the FTSE All Share fell by 0.9%.
Most of the damage was done by Lambert Howarth (-10%), Oystertec (-17%), and Wagon (-12%). On the plus side, new addition Carclo rose 8%.
Hyder Consulting has joined SportingBet in having risen above its target price and since falling below the stop loss level that will apply from its anniversary date. If we had sold it as soon as it dropped below the stop loss level then we would have received about 200p compared to the current 192p.
There are no transactions due this month due to Crest Nicholson being held past its anniversary date last year. As it happens, even if we were due to buy another value stock there aren’t any candidates available!
